O novo PAIPIX 7 GNU/Linux mantém o objectivo de suporte ao software científico mas abandona o ênfase no sistema live para integrar no mesmo DVD as soluções de instalação, sistema live e DVD de actualização.
Estes sistemas resultam da utilização das soluções oficiais Debian, debian-live e debian-cd tornando o desenvolvimento do PAIPIX mais sustentável a médio prazo.

The new PAIPIX 7 GNU/Linux keeps its focus on scientific software but drops the emphasis on a pure live DVD to integrate, in the same DVD, the installation, live and upgrade systems.
These solutions result form using the Debian official packages debian-live and debian-cd, making the development of PAIPIX more sustainable in the medium range.

A versão 5 do PAIPIX que está agora disponível para download tanto para a arquitectura de 32 bit como amd 64 bit resulta de uma profunda reestruturação a partir do KANOTIX.
Uma imagem única suporta todas as linguagens. A instalação em disco rígido utiliza agora os procedimentos do KANOTIX que tornam o sistema instalado em Debian puro e portanto muito mais robusto para actualização.
Esta versão culmina um trabalho árduo durante bastante tempo e inclui o entre outros o Open Office 2.0.1, o KDE 3.5.1, o apache2, o php5, o mysql 5, o postgresql 8.1 e o Xorg 5.8.

After a major restructuring PAIPIX version 5 is now available for download both for the 32 bit and amd 64 bit architectures.
A single image is now used for all supported languages. For hard disk installation, PAIPIX is now using the KANOTIX facility that renders the installed system pure Debian and therefore much more robust to upgrades. There was a lot of work over a long time that was put into this major restructuring that now includes among others Open Office 2.0.1, KDE 3.5.1, apache2, php5, mysql 5, postgresql 8.1 and Xorg 5.8. Your feedback is very much welcome!

The High Energy Physics research community and the CERN European laboratory are in the forefront of data analysis and processing software.
The main package of data analysis in the community that has fantastic possibilities for other domains is ROOT that is naturally included in PAIPIX. PAIPIX was presented at the ROOT workshop 2005 .

A special release of Linux PAIPIX presented at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts. Both the presentation and the paper with a general discussion on PAIPIX are accessible.
The European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts in the central European organization for weather forecast and runs a forecast model that is used by all weather services in Europe.

Enquanto estamos ainda a trabalhar no PAIPIX 5.0 que inclui o kernel 2.6.24-5, kde 3.4.3, Openoffice 2.0, mysql 5, php 5, ... , publicamos uma versão "stripped down" do PAIPIX 3.8-5 excluindo o directório /Books do DVD. Esta versão destina-se a pessoas cujo browser tem um limite de 2GB.

While we are still working on PAIPIX 5.0 that includes kernel 2.6.24-5, kde 3.4.3, Openoffice 2.0, mysql 5, php 5, ... , we have relased a stripped down version of PAIPIX 3.8-5 excluding the /Books directory in the DVD. This is ment to help people using a browser that have a 2GB limit.
